About Us

We are a family-run business based in North Wales. We supply rope access equipment, work at height PPE, and climbing gear to both industrial professionals and the sport climbing community. Our goal is simple: to provide reliable equipment, expert advice, and exceptional customer service you can trust.

Meet the team behind Orbit Equipment...

Steve Taylor - Managing Director

Steve's working-at-height journey started in 2002, abroad in New Zealand, painting dockyard conveyors. Here is where he first learned just how much selecting the right, reliable equipment matters when you're relying on it every day.

Back in the UK, he went on to work for the country's largest rope access equipment distributor before gaining his IRATA competency in 2003 and building experience across everything from rail and tree surgery to entertainments work (one highlight being the Winter Olympic Games in Russia!).

Over the years that followed, he worked his way up to be a very experienced IRATA Level 3 which is still current today, picking up a genuinely broad view of the industry along the way, both in the UK and abroad.

Outside of work he's a member of the local coastguard rescue team, specialising in cliff rescues and gets out on his mountain bike whenever the Welsh weather allows it.

Sue Howes - Office Manager & Co-Owner

Sue's spent the last decade working for operational rope access companies, keeping the office side of things running properly, and is now half owner of Orbit Equipment alongside Steve. She's got a degree in animal behaviour and a genuine love of a well-built spreadsheet, so if your order, invoice, or delivery query needs sorting properly, she's the one to ask.

Slightly ironically for someone in the working-at-height trade, Sue isn't a fan of heights herself (yes, she has cried at Go Ape!). When she's not in the office she's usually looking after her six miniature ponies.

Our Aim...

We want to make the feeling of buying equipment personal again, being honest, reliable and human. When customers have bought from us, they should feel like they have been dealing with people not a process.

That means we're honest if an item's out of stock rather than taking your money and making you wait, we get orders out the same day where we can, and every parcel gets a little something extra tucked in, a handwritten thank you, some Haribo and a handmade gift too.

We would love for you to join our community, if you aren’t ready to buy just yet you could follow us on social media which we do our “Gen X” best to keep up with
